Today @evLeaks leaked what appears to be official press photos of the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The images show front, back and side of each of the new Windows 10 phones.
The design stays in line with previous Windows phones. The 950 XL appears thinner than the 950. The camera lens is the only protruding area in the back. Microsoft keeps the branding quite small on the back. The front of both Windows 10 phones is clean and does not add anything new. Bezels appear pretty big, making them appear dated.
The Lumia 950 comes with a 5.2 inch WQHD (1,440x2,560px) OLED display in a matte white or black polycarbonate body. A Snapdragon 808, 64-bit Hexa-core CPU runs the phone with 3GB of RAM.
Microsoft bets for secure access on an infrared Iris scanner for Windows Hello. This will be interesting to see in action. If the iris scanner works great, it could be stand out feature for the Lumia line as other smartphone makers rely on fingerprint access.
Other features include 20MP PureView rear camera, 5MP Wide-angle front camera, Qi wireless charging through a flip cover, USB Type-C, 32GB storage and microSD card slot.
The Lumia 950 XL has with a 5.7-inch WQHD screen not only a slightly larger display but more performance.
A Snapdragon 810 Octa-core does duty in the 950 XL. Other enhancements over the Lumia 950 include a triple LED Flash in the rear and the Qi wireless charging is integrated.
Another photo of the Lumia 950 XL that leaked shows it connected to what is supposed a Continuum box. The little box offers connectors to USB-C, HDMI and USB. This way the Lumia can be connected to a Monitor or TV and the apps are supposed to switch to full desktop mode.
