Sony Xperia Z5 Press Photos Reveal Minimalist Masterpiece

Sony will hold a media event at the IFA 2015 in Berlin on September 2nd. Sony will unveil three new smartphones with the Xperia Z5 line. Specifications have leaked on Facebook and now several press shots of the Sony Xperia Z5 surfaced.

Sony will unveil at the IFA 2015 the new Sony Xperia Z5 smartphones. Sony has teased an event on September 2nd to make the announcement. Yesterday a Facebook post revealed that Sony will introduce three Xperia Z5 phones.

The Xperia Z5 Compact features a 4.6-inch 720p HD screen, the Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2 inch screen with 1080p FHD and the Xperia Z5 Premium will have a stunning 5.5 inch screen with 4K 2160p UltraHD.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium would be the world's first 4K display smartphones. In April Sharp announced a 5.5 inch 4K display based on IGZO. This 4K smartphone display has since been in hiding. This is probably the display Sony is using in the Xperia Z5 Premium.

The Xperia Z5 will also have a top end camera. There will be 23MP camera with a super-fast 0.1-second hybrid 192 "PDAF" autofocus, F1.8 aperture and 1 / 2.2-inch sensor size and improved image stabilization. Sony has teased on their UK Twitter account that there is a smartphone coming with "greater focus." This supports the above claim of a high-end camera.

XperiaBlog has posted three press images of the Xperia Z5 which show a very elegant and clean design that calls out Apple. It appears that Sony managed to integrate the 23MP camera without it protruding from the back.

Sony managed that by not going crazy thin on the case design. Apple really needs to consider this approach. A flush backside is just increidbly clean as the photo shows below. Note that Sony also hides the hideous antenna isolation lines.

Xperia Z5 Flush back

The Sony Xperia Z5 has a fighting chance to make an impact based on what we know so far. Sony needs a new smartphone winner to battle Samsung.
