Sony will be the first company to offer a smartphone with 4K display. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will have a 4K display. This has been confirmed ahead of Sony's IFA event.
Sony quantum leaps Apple and Sony with the Xperia Z5 Premium. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the world's first 4K display smartphone. The 5.5-inch screen has a pixel density of 807ppi, this is double the pixel density the Apple iPhone Retina display has.

To put the 807ppi in context. The Galaxy S6's 5.1-inch QHD (2560x1440) display has 577ppi.
The 5.5-inch FHD (1920x1080px) display of the Apple iPhone 6 Plus has only 401ppi.
As explored last week, Sony must have secured the exclusive rights to the Sharp made 5.5-inch 4K screen that briefly surfaced in April.
Sony is not just betting on the 4K screen, the Xperia Z5 will also have a top end camera.
There will be 23MP camera with a super-fast 0.1-second hybrid 192 "PDAF" autofocus, F1.8 aperture and 1 / 2.2-inch sensor size and improved image stabilization.
The new Sony Xperia Z5 line is also supposed to have a 2-day battery life and offer water and dust resistance. The latter is almost a Sony signature feature.
Rumors about the Xperia Z5 4K screen surfaced a while ago. Over the weekend a leaked video interview with a French Sony executive confirmed the rumor.
The design of the Sony Xperia Z5 is ultra minimalist. Now if the Xperia Z5 would run iOS I would buy it.
Sony will host a media event on September 2 at the IFA 2015 in Berlin to announce the Xperia Z5 phones.
