Apple and Samsung hold a combined marketshare of 64% leaving not much room for other vendors. iOS holds a 30% marketshare ahead of the iPhone 6S launch.
Kantar also revealed that iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have so far combined to make up 24% of all iPhones in use in both the US and China, Apple’s two most important markets.
Since September 2014, 32% of US iPhone owners have replaced their devices. This means there is still a huge opportunity for Apple to sell iPhone 6S to existing iPhone owners.
18% of iPhone owners in urban China upgraded their devices yet, offering even more opportunity for Apple in replacement sales.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6S next week on September 9.
