Bruno Mars Reportedly Offered Superbowl Halftime Show

It seems like if you do a good job, the NFL is more than willing to be polite and stand by its men. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the football organization has asked Bruno Mars to return to the field as the lead halftime performer for the monumental Super Bowl 50. The event will be held in Santa Clara, California in February 2016.

Bruno took the coveted spot back in Super Bowl XLVIII, where he performed a string of his biggest hits and wowed audiences. He was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they delivered one of the best reviewed shows in years - and he was a performer that appealed to both casual and chronic football fans, something last year's performer, Katy Perry, lacked.

Perry took to the stage on a giant mechanical lion and was joined by Missy Elliot and a shark that completely stole the show from everyone.

Representatives for Mars and the NFL have not confirmed the reports, and the league could be planning something bigger than usual for the Super Bowl’s golden anniversary.

It does seem like Mars might not be a big enough draw by himself, but there have been few other clues as to who it could be. One suggestion was that Taylor Swift, who is the biggest name in music, would be performing, but it is doubtful as she is sponsored by Coca Cola and the halftime show is sponsored by Pepsi.

Billboard says Mars has been asked to “curate” the show, which might be a medley of other performers coming together - including some of the most famous performers from the last few decades.
