Rumors have it that the list of directors has been narrowed down by the producers of the Tomb Raider. The narrowed down list of potential directors include Kathryn Bigelow, Mimi Leder and Catherine Hardwicke. The reboot of the movie is being produced by Warner Bros., GK Films, MGM and Eidos Interactive.
Tricia Brock had been previously attached to the project but for reasons unknown she passed on the project. Tricia’s career includes everything from The Walking Dead to Girls. According to The Tracking Board, Leder, Hardwicke and Bigelow are shortlisted to take Brock’s place. Now let’s wait and see who gets to direct the project.
Tomb Raider is based on the best-selling video game series. It centers on archaeologist Lara Croft as she travels the globe seeking priceless artifacts. Lara Croft battles evil alchemists and vicious mummies along the way.
The franchise has had two films before. Both these films starred Angelina Jolie in the title role, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Cradle of Life. The first installment was quite a hit at the box office.

Bigelow has won an Oscar for her direction of The Hurt Locker. She was also nominated for Best Picture Zero Dark Thirty. This makes her a really good choice. Bigelow from her record certainly has what it takes to create tension, manage suspense and direct action.
