Prince William has long talked about his desire to live a more normal life and have a normal life for his children. However, according to some recent reports from The Daily Mail, he might be living that normal life at the expense of his royal duties.

Prince Charles, who has been the shadow for the Queen for quite a few years, has picked up many royal engagements during his time serving the country. The 66 year old has well over 640 social engagements in a year, appearances on behalf of the Queen, who is starting to give him more and more responsibilities as she ages, running Highgrove, the Duchy of Cornwall and, increasingly, running Sandringham, plus the constant demands of The Prince’s Trust.

According to the report, it is The Prince's Trust that Charles would like William to take over, and he denied that request from his father. The trust "generates an annual turnover of £72 million," and is a great source of pride for Charles, who is in great distress that William would just allow the work to fall by the wayside.

William wants to live a "normal life" according to the report, which says that "William has said that he has been asked to take on the trust, but he has mixed feelings about it. He has his own charitable foundation and he wants to make his own mark. If he takes on his father’s legacy, then it means he can’t create his own. William is very definite about wanting to do his own thing. Charles to a degree has to accept that much of his increased workload is down to his own doing."

Not only that, but some sources say that Harry is also doing his own thing and doesn't want anything to do with the Royal duties.

Harry for the most part has been quite dedicated to his charity, Lesotho, for quite some time and it would be hard for him to give it up. However, according to many reports, William doesn't seem to be the one who is that interested in work - nor is Kate Middleton. Between the two of them, they don't even come up to half of the number of social appearances that Charles does in a year.

By any account, it is something the public won't stand for, nor the current Queen, so we may see some thinly veiled barbs being thrown in the coming years.
