Sean Penn filed the $10 million lawsuit against the Empire creator Lee Daniels for implying him as a reference of domestic violence to defend Terrence Howard’s latest actions.
He may have a very mellow voice, seem like a very warm person and a fine actor but Terrence Howard is no saint. Very much like his character on Empire Luscious Lyon, Howard has a scandalous personal life.

Like Lyon, Terrence has been arrested faced a trial and as of late, he has been facing charges for domestic violence. His first wife Lori McCommas accused him of hitting her. Terrence admitted that he had hit her but not with a closed fist. He had slapped her but he shouldn’t have.
The case has gotten a lot of attention. His friend and creator of the show Empire, Lee Daniels felt like he should say something in Howard’s defense. While interviewing, Daniels quoted that Terrence had done nothing different from what Marlon Brando or Sean Penn had done.
The accusation did not make him a demon. Daniels called the building up of the case as a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.
"[Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f—in' demon," Daniels told THR in reference to to Howard's recent legal troubles. That's a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America."
While said in emotion, Daniels implied Brando and Penn indirectly. While Brando might not be around, Penn is definitely saying something about it. Penn filed a defamation lawsuit worth $10 million against Lee Daniels on Tuesday.
The complaint, which was filed in New York State Supreme Court stated that Penn's status as a public figure has subjected him of scandalous, scurrilous, and baseless attacks. But Penn, like any citizen, has a right to defend himself and will no longer tolerate the reckless and malicious behavior of others.
The complaint stated that who seek to aggrandize themselves or their projects at his expense. Accordingly, and because of Daniels' defamatory statements, Penn brings this action for monetary relief, and to deter Daniels and others from their defamatory actions.
While what Daniels might have said in his statement might have been based on reports of Penn’s involvement in domestic violence. Penn’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart said that Penn’s former wives including Madonna can ascertain that he was never involved in hitting them.

No charges were ever proven against him. Terrence however has already been involved in one such case with his second ex-wife Michelle Ghent. She later filed a restraining order against him after she was photographed with a black eye in 2013, something he claims he did in self-defense.
