It is good to see that someone like Kanye West struggles with issues raising kids like every other parent.

Kanye West just put out several Tweets attacking game companies to put in-app purchases on kids games. He wrote: "F!@# any game company that puts in-app purchases on kids games!!!" He continues with: "That makes no sense!!! We give the iPad to our child and every 5 minutes there's a new purchase!!! If a game is made for a 2 year old, just allow them to have fun and give the parents a break for Christ sake."

Kanye West, this is how you switch off in-app purchases on the iPad:

1) Go to Settings > General > Restrictions

2) Tap Enable Restrictions

3) Choose a Restrictions passcode, use one that North does not know.

4) Turn off In-App purchases in Restrictions

5) That's it

in-app purchase restrictions

This setting does prevent in-app purchases, but many games are still offering the options, which leads to arguments with kids. My kids (4 and 6) are using the iPhone and iPad since years and they never made in-app purchase. For most games they are just not needed. There is no point in buying a digital sword, digital gold or T-shirt for a talking cat. You have to explain to kids that they get nothing real. It's just bits.

I hope that this early understanding of in-app purchases for digital goods will later make them think twice in making in-app purchases in games like Game of War, Clash of Clans and of course also in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. These games make millions with selling bits.
