  • Another Volkswagen software is under investigation!

The investigation was launched by the U.S. (EPA) even as VW sales remain constant.

Another software in the Volkswagen cars is being investigated. The software in question is used during the warm up of the VW cars. It is not yet clear if the second software also has nefarious purposes. But the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency of US has still launched the investigation.

Volkswagen fitted their cars with more than the deceiving diesel emissions software. The software was to be used by Volkswagen in the upcoming 2016 car models. It was especially used in the VW cars with the EA 189 2.0-liter diesel engines.

The same engines contained the emissions-cheating software. The software is present in 11 million cars worldwide. It will result in the biggest recall by a single automaker in history.

According to the EPA they are investigating the nature and purpose of the additional software. "We are investigating the nature and purpose of the additional [auxiliary emissions control device]," an EPA representative told Mashable.

The second software was identified in an application submitted by VW. The application asked for permissions to sell the diesel-powered cars in the US.

VW has since then retracted the application but the investigation has been opened. A source has confirmed the second software has been used in VW cars since 2009.  The presence of the software has raised red flags for the US government.

Volkswagen is already facing 250 class-action law suits. If another cheating software was found the blow back would be harder than before. Other reports have suggested the VW sales have not been seriously affected as a result of the scandal. The VW sales have remained steady even after the emissions cheating scandal came to light.
