John Lewis Christmas 2015 Ad Man on the Moon is a Weird Tear Jerker
John Lewis Christmas Ad 2015

This is the weirdest John Lewis Christmas ad ever. Watch below the just released John Lewis Christmas Advert 2015 - #ManOnTheMoon.

I am still unsettled after watching the John Lewis Christmas 2015 Ad. What a story. The ad tells the story of a young girl called Lily. Looking at the moon through a telescope one night, she finds an old lonely man living on the moon.

Lily becomes determined to get something to the man on the moon, to send him a message and show him that someone down here is thinking of him. All her attempts fail until the end when magically a package hanging on balloons appears on the moon.

I get the metaphor of the story of a lonely person. It is a creative idea, but I did not enjoy watching it. The new John Lewis Christmas 2015 Ad has a great message, but the way the video tells it is depressing for the most part. Watch the John Lewis Christmas 2015 Ad below.

The music is ‘Half the World Away’ performed by Aurora, the original song was by Oasis.

Last weekend a 10 second teaser ran on TV channel ITV during the X-Factor show that showed an image of the moon and the hashtag #OnTheMoon. It turns out that it was John Lewis teasing their new Christmas ad.

In 2013 the retailer spent $11 million for the 2 minute long animated tale of the Bear and the Hare. Last year the John Lewis Christmas Ad broke the viewing record. To date it has close to 24 million views on Youtube and stars Monty the Penguin. I like the Monty ad much better than the new 2015 John Lewis Christmas Ad. I feel sorry for the Brits to have to watch this commercial on TV for the next weeks.
