Since its release the film has already come under heavy criticism. The film is being called a white washed version of Egyptian mythology. Gods of Egypt has been called out for its lack of colored actors.
Especially in ancient Egypt the dwellers were known to be of colored race. Only one colored actor has been cast in the film. Chadwick Boseman plays god Thoth but other than him most of the main characters are white. The film will be released on the 26th of February 2016.
