Several fearless leaders are to come to the Paris Climate Summit despite there being a terrorist threat.

While the attacks by ISIS in Paris are a retarding factor, over 120 world leaders are ready to attend the Climate Summit which is to take place there soon. Some of the normal routine day-to-day activities had been curtailed.

But otherwise life proceeded in its relentless drive to look to the future as a time of hope and prosperity. A march by a group of environmentalists had been put off seeing the overall sombre mood.

Nevertheless, many many leaders from all over the globe will be attending the Climate Change Summit. They clearly think that this effort is an important step in the right direction. So they are putting their best foot forward by attending the summit.

In over 2000 cities of the world environmentalists will engage in rallies on November 29th. The conference is to take place in Paris. And despite the threats of yet another terror attack, the conference will be held. And the world leaders will be attending. The feelings of solidarity that the world’s citizens felt were wholly with Franch and the French.

The plan is to curb greenhouse emissions. While the threat of global terrorism may get mentioned somewhere in the mix, the real focus was on climate change and how to reduce its deleterious effects.

There were 171 countries that were involved in heavy pollution. They included: China, the United States, India and the European Union. These countries are serious about curbing their pollution record. The overall goal is to bring pollution levels down to the point where by the end of the current century the temperature increase will be only 2 degrees celsius.

And while this may be a laudable aim, it is still not quite up to the mark. We need more stringent measures that could provide a more pristine world. A goal of below 2 degrees celsius by the end of the century is more lofty and satisfying an objective.

The Paris Summit must be a starting point and not the end of all our efforts. The reality was that all out striving was for an ideal and ideals are meant to be striven for. Only that way could we claim to have really accomplished a worthwhile world for our progeny. Progress and economics with a human face were needed. Not rampant materialism with an inhuman face.
