The new Pirelli Calendar 2016 is different in a good way. Annie Leibovitz shows her genius.

The Pirelli calendar for 2016 is out, and it was presented in London today to pressmen, collectors, and invitees from all over the UK and beyond at Roundhouse – an old building used as a temple of rock in the early 60s.

This 2016 Pirelli Calendar is the 43rd edition, and it was developed by Annie Leibovitz, a reputable American portraitist and photographer. She created the job in July 2014 at her studio in New York. She shot her first nudes in 2000 and also created the 2000 Pirelli Calendar which had dancers from choreographer Mark Morris.

This year’s work has 13 distinguished women in it, and they are all excellent achievers in their own carrier field – this includes artistic, sporting, social, cultural, and professional among others. The women are –

Yao Chen, the first Chinese UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador; Russian top model Natalia Vodianova, founder of the charity Naked Heart Russia; producer Kathleen Kennedy, the Chairperson of Lucasfilm and a popular figure in Hollywood; art collector and patroness Agnes Gund (with her granddaughter Sadie Rain Hope-Gund), President Emerita of the Museum of Modern Art in New York; tennis player Serena Williams, number one in the world; opinion leader, critic and writer Fran Lebowitz; the President of Ariel Investments, Mellody Hobson, who supports charity projects in Chicago; film director Ava DuVernay, whose films include Selma, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2015; blogger Tavi Gevinson, founder of Style Rookie and online magazine Rookie; Iranian visual artist Shirin Neshat; artist, musician and performer Yoko Ono; singer Patti Smith, one of the top rock stars of all time; and the actress and stand-up comedian Amy Schumer.

Leibovitz revealed that the simple concept of the 2000 Calendar involved photographing nudes, but that of this year is largely different because it is set in classic black-and-white portrait created in the studio.

She added that Pirelli wanted to do something different with the 2016 Calendar and demanded that she photographed outstanding women in various fields; and then Leibovitz came up with the idea to shoot the photos to reveal who exactly the women are without any pretenses.

“I’m a great admirer of comediennes. The Amy Schumer portrait added some fun. It’s as if she didn’t get the memo saying that she could keep her clothes on,” she said.

This new 2016 Pirelli calendar has been uploaded to a new website at http://www.pirellicalendar.com and here, latest photos, videos, interviews, and other rich content can be accessed to show the great work the owners have done to enrich the users’ experiences.
