The final cut of the Episode 7 film has significantly trimmed the character of Maz Katana.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally ready for its premiere. The final cut of the film is even ready as J.J. Abrams and his team recently put the finishing touches. The cast of the film has seen the final film and they love it.

The entire prospect is making fans happy with anticipation. However there is some news which may be a downer to some fans. Editing a film is a major job and the final film does not always have enough room to keep everything.

It seems Episode 7 has also been trimmed significantly in the process of shaping the final film. All the trimmings especially mean the character of Lupita Nyong’o has been reduced. A recent report suggests the character of the Oscar winning actress has been reduced in the film. Lupita will play Maz Katana in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Not much has been shown about Maz Katana in the trailers and TV spots of the film. Maz Katana is one of the few completely CGI creations in the film. Katana’s voice can be heard in the film and there is one quick glimpse.

The Sun reports the character of Katana had trouble with the motion capture process. Therefore the role may have been reduced in the final cut. Lupita also allegedly felt less of a connection to the character. A lot of Lupita’s scenes ended up being either re-worked or cut.

Maz Katana is reportedly a thousand-year-old space pirate. Katana has been for the last hundred or so staying in a watering hole in the planet of Takodana. Some speculate Katana may have been Han Solo’s criminal mentor.
