The OnePlus 2 is Now Invite-Free, OnePlus X to be Invite-Free for a Limited Time

Who wants a OnePlus 2 and a OnePlus X?

Chinese smartphone startup, OnePlus, is ending its invite-only system for the OnePlus 2, the second-generation Android phone that took the world by storm. OnePlus masterfully implemented the invite system to attract interest on its phones. Scarcity is definitely a strong tool for persuasion, and the company's success is a proof of it.

“That's right. You'll never again need an invite to purchase the OnePlus 2. We're proud to be able to make the OnePlus 2 invite-free so soon and hope this will make getting your very own OnePlus 2 a cheerfully easy experience,” the company said.

Apart from making the OnePlus 2 invite-free, OnePlus is also making its OnePlus X--the company's newest phone--invite-free for a limited time, starting at midnight this December 5 and up to December 7. As of this writing, only the 64GB version of the OnePlus 2 is available for purchase; the 16GB is already out of stock. The cheaper, meanwhile, OnePlus X requires an invitation.

Moreover, OnePlus is sweetening the deal with deals from December 5 to December 7. For a limited time, the prices of all OnePlus 2 StyleSwap Covers are 50 percent off, while select OnePlus One accessories are 90 percent off. Other accessories will be 10 percent off and a limited number of first orders will receive an exclusive Never Settle mousepad.

“Order your OnePlus device or accessories by December 7 and you'll receive it for the holidays, guaranteed,” the company said. “Remember, this is the last chance to be sure it will get there in time, so don't miss out. It's good to know you'll be giving the gift everyone else will be envious of this year.”
