Web publishing platform Wix.com is coming back to the Super Bowl for the second time with a unique proposition.
Update 02/03: Wix.com Super Bowl 50 Ad is online.

Take note. I predict that you will be watching the Wix.com Super Bowl 50 Ad again and again. Why? Because it will be made by DreamWorks Animation. The studio is behind animation blockbusters including Home, Madagascar, The Croods, Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon.
Update 1/13: Watch the first commercial in the Wix Super Bowl 50 Ad campaign starring the Kung Fu Panda 3 characters.
The Wix Super Bowl 50 ad will be all about story telling. DreamWorks Animation is one of the best story tellers in movies and TV series. But how did a web technology company like Wix get a studio like DreamWorks to make a Super Bowl ad for them?
Wix’s CMO Omer Shai explains: "We were presented with a unique opportunity and would have been crazy to pass it up. The ability to collaborate on this campaign with a renowned group of creatives like the team at DreamWorks Animations has been amazing, even at this early stage of the campaign."
Omer Shai added: "The DreamWorks Animation team has an incredible track record when it comes to creating compelling stories that captivate viewers’ hearts and minds, and there is no one better to collaborate with on a Super Bowl campaign where the world’s top brands compete for viewers’ attention."
I am already extremely excited about what DreamWorks will come up with for the Wix Super Bowl 50 commercial. Will they feature some of their famous characters? Will there be dragons or Pandas? Will there be a Shrek? The details are still under wraps.
Update: The Wix Super Bowl 50 Ad promotes Kung Fu Panda 3.
Wix.com only said that the 30-second commercial will tie directly into Wix’s mission to provide small businesses with a software platform to design, manage and grow an online presence. In addition to the Wix Super Bowl commercial, the company will be launching a cross-platform campaign with made-for-web content, ads for exclusive online distribution and social media activations.
Like competitor Squarespace, Wix.com decided to drop again millions of Dollars on a Super Bowl commercial. The prices for a 30 second spot are at around $5 million for Super Bowl 50. On top of that there are significant spendings on production and marketing.
I asked Omer Shai what the impact of their first Super Bowl ad was on growth. He did not spill detailed numbers, but said: "Our #ItsThatEasy Super Bowl campaign last year was unique both in its scope and its execution. We were incredibly focused on maximizing the opportunity and developed a far-reaching, cross-platform campaign that reached over 300 million people in addition to the 115 million who saw our ad during the Big Game itself. This type of reach is invaluable for a company looking to build its brand and we saw near immediate impact in our numbers."
Alone the fact that the company is back says that the first Wix Super Bowl Ad worked. It was a great commercial and campaign Wix brought to the Super Bowl 2015. The Wix.com Super Bowl 2015 Ad had five NFL legends including Brett Favre, Terrell Owens, Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen and Franco Harris find a new career owning a small business in the Wix.com Super Bowl Ad.
Wix.com is a cloud-based web development platform that allows users to create HTML5 web sites and mobile sites through the use of their online drag and drop tool. The company has its headquarters in Israel and is traded on NASDAQ under the symbol WIX.
Super Bowl 50 will take place on February 7, 2016, in Santa Clara, at the Levi's Stadium. The stadium is the home of the home of the San Francisco 49ers. Super Bowl 50 will be topping all previous Super Bowl's because of the anniversary. Marketers are flocking to Super Bowl 50 and it will be a huge TV event.
