Zuckerberg announced his personal challenge for 2016 and its clearly inspired by his new life as a dad.
Every time I read about Mark Zuckerberg's personal challenges I am torn between getting frustrated or inspired. How on earth does this guy find time to learn Mandarin? This was one of his personal challenges. Zuckerberg's 2016 personal challenge is a clear response to the birth of his first daughter Max in December.

He does not have time anymore. This is why he wants to build a personal assistant like Iron Man has. He does not say that Max is the reason to build a an personal assistant like Jarvis. Zuckerberg appears to be a hands-on dad. He and his wife could afford an army of nannies, not like the rest of us parents.
Hands-on parents just do not have the time for work and hobbies that they used to have before becoming parents. Zuckerberg is just at the beginning as right now Max just wants and needs mommy. This will change over the next months. Zuckerberg is getting ready with a simple AI to save time.
He describes his plan with: "I'm going to start by exploring what technology is already out there. Then I'll start teaching it to understand my voice to control everything in our home -- music, lights, temperature and so on. I'll teach it to let friends in by looking at their faces when they ring the doorbell. I'll teach it to let me know if anything is going on in Max's room that I need to check on when I'm not with her. On the work side, it'll help me visualize data in VR to help me build better services and lead my organizations more effectively."
Zuckerberg will code his Jarvis himself. He will update on his progress over the year. My kids are already a bit older and what I would need is an autonomous car that picks them up from school and brings them and picks them up for soccer practice, music lessons, friends and more. Sometimes I feel like a taxi driver, who does not get paid.
