The Empire EVS is a cutting-edge paintball mask design. It comes with an integrated Recon Snow2 heads-up display. The display enables the delivery of critical and real-time information.
Information such as ammunition counts, field maps, and teammate locations is displayed. It is all displayed just below the mask wearer’s right eye.
The instant access to valuable tactical cues increases the situational awareness of the paint-ballers. The mask also makes squad effectiveness previously possible like in video-game experiences.
A Recon Snow2 heads-up display has also been added to the helmet. The display is situated at the bottom-right of the Empire EVS mask frame. The high-contrast LCD screen of the Snow2 seems like a 14” image.
It also appears from 5 ft away. Thus allowing users to glance at it without re-focusing their eyes. The Snow2 is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor.
The processor is an Android-based operating system. It also features a nine-axis sensor suite, and Bluetooth 4.0. Other features include Wi-Fi, and GPS connectivity.
The Empire EVS smart paintball mask has an ASTM-approved mask design. The state-of-the-art mask also has dual-pane lens system. The lens system is both scratch-resistant and anti-reflective. The system blocks UVA/UVB radiation to a hundred percent and prevents internal fogging.
The presence of the thermo-formed ear cover provides maximum comfort and excellent hearing. The mask also has a flexible, co-injection molded lower skirt which encourages ball bounces.
“The Empire EVS showcases the versatility of Recon heads-up display technology,” said Tom Fowler, Director of Sales and Marketing, Head Worn Devices, Intel. “Through our collaboration with Empire, which involved the development of paintball-specific software for Snow2’s Android-based operating system, we were able to bring the benefits of instant, direct-to-eye information delivery to an entirely new group of customers. Our open software development kit (SDK) allows any third-party developer to extend the capabilities of Recon devices in this manner.”

“Empire Paintball was thrilled to collaborate with Recon on the development of wearable technology specifically adapted to the sport of paintball,” said Louie Spicer, Chief Technology Officer, G.I. Sportz. “Recon has proven the robustness and user-friendliness of its Snow2 heads-up display platform. With Recon’s help, we were able to extend Snow2’s functionality to enhance the paintball player’s experience in a substantial way.”
