The Tiguan GTE Active Concept is the line’s most striking innovation. The new Tiguan will be an efficient plug-in hybrid system. The system uses two electric motors and a gasoline engine, which can supply all four wheels with power.
The power comes either automatically or at the push of a button. The SUV can offer supreme off-road performance due to the all-wheel-drive system’s technology. Even the electric mode of the Tiguan shows the potential in plug-in hybrid systems.
The Tiguan concept is a five seater. It is based on the redeveloped second-generation Tiguan. The concept reflects the great technical versatility of the new SUV. The Tiguan will hit the US market by 2017.
The Tiguan will significantly expand the range of vehicles offered by Volkswagen. The Tiguan can cover up to 20 miles of travel in all-electric mode. The journey in the all-electric E-mode makes Tiguan a zero emissions vehicle.
The Tiguan has a battery capacity of 12.4 kWh and a 16.9-gallon fuel tank. Both the battery and the fuel tank give it a driving range of 580 miles. The Tiguan will also be the first SUV to be based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) by VW. The SUV will demonstrate intelligent space utilization.
