  • Artificial Tanning Beds may cause Skin Ailments among Young Ladies

Scientists have discovered that excessive use of artificial tanning beds may cause skin ailments such as melanoma among young ladies.

A novel study shows that indoor tanning may adversely affect young women. They may contract skin diseases due to these artificial arrangements. Several times in the past, the experts have warned against indoor tanning.

Although it will give you a slightly dark and dusk complexion that is sexy to say the least, the fact is it is just not good for the skin. Even natural sunlight has UV rays that cause unforeseen damage. That is why it is advised that sunbathers use an SPF lotion.

Also, it is said that only a particular time period is ideal for suntanning and it ought to be for a limited duration too. However, since the beach is not a place that is readily available to everyone, indoor tanning has sprouted up as an alternative.

This may make the skin glow and look pretty, but it also causes it to undergo certain changes that are downright dangerous. The women who participated in the study consisted of 63 who were very young. 61 of them used to tan in the confines of their homes on tanning beds.

Those ladies, who were between 30 to 49 years of age, had chances of contracting melanoma. The ratio was two to six times more than the ordinary female.

This finding is of significance. Access to indoor tanning facilities will have to be curbed. The problem is that indoor tanning has achieved the level of a craze.

Everyone’s into it especially females and when teenage girls start the practice, it often leads to complications such as skin cancer. You never know and you can never be too careful when it comes to that semi-permeable membrane that is the skin.

The FDA has finally addressed the issue by imposing a ban on the use of tanning beds by those minors who are below 18 years of age. This is for their own good.

A little curtailment of freedom will not hurt if it leads to a gain in health. The disadvantages of indoor tanning have come to the fore and they show that the practice is risky.

Furthermore, those females who start indoor tanning below 40 years of age have more chances of contracting melanoma. The women who were above 40 when they started indoor tanning were relatively safe though.

So we must protect our health while we are still in our juvenile days. Otherwise it will be too late by the time we contract such a deadly disease as skin cancer.
