Universal has picked up on Levitt and 21 Jump Street writer Micahel Bacall's idea of a musical featuring Levitt and Tatum.

It’s the decade of the musical and broadcasting networks are just going crazy to bring the audience their favorite hits in live musicals. Earlier this week, the audience witnessed the Fox vent, Grease: Live and everyone had nothing but praises to say about the show, the performances and the great energy that surrounded the event.

It’s true that people enjoy a good musical and as Hollywood flourishes, a groups of actors is becoming very accomplished at giving an all-rounder performance with acting, singing, dancing and performing live or in movies.

Such actors of course include one great star, Joseph Gordon Levitt. Joseph has already featured in some great musical performances and he is not shying away anytime soon.

He is diving headfirst into an untitled project he’s cooked up with 21 Jump Street writer Michael Bacall. The project has already been picked up by Universal Studios as producers.

Bacall would be writing the script for an R-rated musical comedy about two pilots that get stuck on a flying misadventure. The first pilot will be played by Joseph himself and Channing Tatum will be playing the second pilot.

Channing has proven his dancing skills in numerous movies and he has also proven his musical talent in the latest movie Hail Caesar!

Joseph and Channing are a great fit, having already worked on films like Stop-Loss and Havoc, there is no lack of chemistry between the two. They were the two names that came out on the top when 20th Century Fox was eyeing a duo to star in their musical Guys and Dolls.

Marc Platt will be producing the play, according to The Wrap. He also produced the Broadway musical “Wicked” as well as last Sunday’s “Grease: Live” on Fox.

Adam Siegel for Marc Platt Productions, Tatum and his partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan are also producing for their Free Association company, and Gordon-Levitt is producing with hitRECord Films.
