The Good Wife Super Bowl Promo Announces its End

The little spot during the Super Bowl 50 announced that the current season will be the show’s last.

It’s another show that is coming to an end. The phenomenon that was called The Good Wife started seven years prior on CBS and took the viewers and critics with a sweep.

Written and produced by an impeccable team, headed by the brilliant Robert and Michelle King, the cast featured an amazingly talented cast headed by Julianna Margulies, Leslie Moonves, David Stapf, Glenn Geller and Nina Tassler.

The story of Alicia Florrick, a Chicago political spouse trying to rebuild her life after her husband (played by Chris Noth) went to jail on corruption charges by going back to the law firm that she used to work in started to build in 2009.

Ever since, the show has only gained momentum. In its seven years, the show has picked up many accolades including AFI kudos, a Peabody Award, a Television Critics Award for drama series and a WGA Award for episodic drama.

Julianna Margulies picked up two Emmy awards in year 2011 and 2014 for her performance as Florrick. The show also nabbed Emmy nominations for best drama series in 2010 and 2011. Carrie Preston and Martha Plimpton also earned guest star Emmy kudos for their work on the show.

The current season which is the seventh in the series has still got 9 more episodes to go. It was time that the King couple decided that they will be signing off the show.

They have commented that they have enjoyed their time building up such an amazing character, according to Variety. They will be putting in their best effort to bring the story to a whole and do justice to these characters that they have constructed so aptly over the years.

Although CBS has enough support on the board to continue with the show even after the Kings leave, CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller and CBS TV Studios president David Stapf said in a joint statement that it was never easy to say goodbye to the crown jewel of the network.

If anyone had any doubt that this was the last year for the show, CBS just declared it to the world on Super Bowl 50 with a TV Spot. It was simple and announced that this would be the final season of the show with 9 episodes to go. Hold on to your seats cause it’s going to be the end.
