Joey and Rory Feek, the country duo that took everyone by storm with their soulful songs and beautiful love story, were surprisingly nominated for a Grammy award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance this year. However, they won't be able to attend the ceremony and instead have sent their two daughters, Hopie and Heidi, just in case they pull out a surprise win.

Joey, who is currently in the end stages of terminal cancer, encouraged her husband to go to the ceremony in Los Angeles, but he refused. According to a blog post on his website This Life I Live, she even went behind his back and bought him a plane ticket - but he cancelled it. He said that leaving her would be too hard, saying, "I can't leave her. I won't."
Instead, Rory has chosen to remain by his wife’s bedside and watch the GRAMMYs from home with their baby. Rory stated, “[W]e will again gather around Joey’s bed and turn the tv-in-the-corner on and watch the Grammy Awards – Joey’s mama and daddy and her three sisters and their kids – all of us having a big-time together.”
His daughters asked him to write down a few words to read in case the couple ends up winning, but Rory doesn't think that's going to happen. “I told them not to worry about it, but they insist,” he wrote. “I can’t imagine our names being called. But then again, Joey and I also couldn’t have imagined us being where we are at all… the good parts or the bad."
For now, the couple is looking forward to spending time together and celebrating the birthday of their baby girl - a milestone Joey never thought she'd be able to reach. Check out the video of their Grammy nominated song "If I Needed You" below:
