Lady Gaga and Vice President Joe Biden will get together at the 2016 Oscars this weekend to help promote sexual assault awareness, according to E! News. The VP will introduce the singer who will perform her song "Til It Happens to You," which is featured in the documentary The Hunting Ground, which explores sexual assault on college campuses.

This is a topic that the Vice President cares deeply about, and he penned an op-ed on the subject last year. He is the man who drafted the 1994 Violence Against Women Act and has been a longtime advocate against domestic violence and sexual assault.
The song is particularly poignant to Lady Gaga, who herself is a rape survivor. She too has been working to raise awareness about sexual assault at the college level, even going so far as to draft an op-ed to raise awareness about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's "Enough Is Enough" bill. The bill was later passed and signed into law.
The Bidens have long been fans of Lady Gaga, including her duet with Tony Bennett of "Cheek to Cheek" on their 2015 holiday playlist.
Lady Gaga is co-nominated for Best Original Song with Diane Warren, competing against Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith for the Spectre song "Writings on the Wall," David Lang's "Simple Song #3" for Youth, J. Ralph and Antony Hegarty's "Manta Ray" for Racing Extinction and The Weeknd, Ahmad Balshe, Jason Daheala Quenneville and Stephan Moccio's "Earned It" for Fifty Shades of Grey.
Mr. Biden will attend the Oscars with wife Jill Biden, while Lady Gaga is expected to bring her fiancé, actor Taylor Kinney.

The song is particularly poignant due to what is happening no only in the world, but in the music industry as well.
