SUVs dominated yet another car show in 2016 becoming the most important segment in the auto industry.

The 2016 New York Auto Show officially opened on Wednesday. The reviews for all the cars have started pouring in. Almost as one the auto industry has deemed SUVs the main attraction of the show.

All the displays in New York also had one theme in common; low gas prices and higher consumer confidence. Wednesday brought with it a mix of vehicles that reflect the current times.

A multitude of manufacturers are releasing large, some pricey SUVs. The SUVs are aimed at families, since they care more about having enough space inside for vacations.

The families are not concerned with what they will pay at the pump. The hype of the show is going to continue with Nissan getting ready to show its next-generation GT-R super car. Meanwhile Chevrolet is also getting ready to reveal the next-generation Camaro ZL1.

The New York Auto Show was previously known for showcasing luxury cars. Brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar Land Rover usually make a big splash with performance cars. However some of the very same automakers are now delving into the SUV industry.

Toyota showcased a new variant on its Prius hybrid. Meanwhile Subaru came through with a new Impreza sedan. Even though the SUVs were the winners, the show had plenty of cars for everyone.

One of the heavily priced SUVs at the NY show was the Mercedes-Benz' performance AMG GLC43. The midsize SUV with the upper ends of the price spectrum tops out at 155 miles per hour. The car’s QX70 engine has been completely redone by Infiniti. The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 SUV is capable of a whopping 362-horsepower.

The Italian performance car maker Maserati presented its first ever SUV, the Levante. The Maserati Levante was an extreme SUV with the finest leather and Italian silk.

The car is promised to come with a staggering price tag of about $73,000. Buick will also display the refreshed Encore which seems more like a makeover. Meanwhile Acura will reveal its top seller, the MDX crossover.

Some of the SUVs presented at the show were originally introduced in 2012 or 2013 but introduced again with an update.

Auto industry analysts expect the popularity of small and midsize crossovers to grow in 2016. In 2015 SUVs accounted for 14% of new car sales. According to the New York show they drew more than 1 million attendees. This makes it the biggest auto show in the U.S.

Other than cars some very important celebrities also came to the New York Auto Show. Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey surprised the crowd by making an appearance.

McConaughey then stepped up on stage during the reveal of the new Lincoln Navigator. McConaughey was the Lincoln spokesperson at the New York Auto Show.

Undeniably the show had some of the most important and exciting rides. One of them was the Acura MDX 2017. The big SUV by Acura is still its best-seller in America.

However in 2015 the MDX sales slid 11 percent. So they presented the next big thing the newest MDX, which is expected to be a big seller. Similarly the Nissan GT-R 2017 was a highlighter. The Nissan car is simply as Godzilla as it is a ridiculously advanced vehicle.
