Tesla’s spokesperson said on Thursday that the company is only one year away from the production of new model. He also said that over 130,000 people have pre-ordered the electric car within in a couple of hours after the announcement of the project. The starting price of Tesla’s Model 3 is $35,000 that is less than half of Tesla's Model X.
Tesla wants LG Display to make the 15-inch landscape touchscreen for the Model 3's cabin. "LG Display is a sole supplier for the 15-plus inch center display of Model 3," a source told Reuters.
”Another company currently provides center information displays for Tesla's Model S and Model X”, source added. Both, LG Display’s spokeswoman and Tesla’s spokeswoman declined to comment.
The order is a huge chance for the display supplier company as LG Display already seeking to expand further into auto electronics which offer higher margins and more stable earnings prospects than consumer products.
