The brain scans of babies affected by microcephaly revealed development issues due to Zika Virus.
Brain scans of Brazilian infants with microcephaly showed that the Zika Virus may affect nerve cells and destroy brain function. The CAT Scan images of the infants were published as a part of the study in a journal.

The study had such researchers among its repertoire who alerted everyone else about the effects of the Zika Virus on infant development. Microcephaly leads to small skulls among babies. Mothers with Zika Virus infections often give birth to babies with this developmental defect.
The possible causes of microcephaly were all ruled out. They included: toxoplasmosis, cytomegalovirus, parovirus, HIV and rubella. The only infection that was left was the Zika Virus and the pregnant mothers showed fever and rash during their gestational period.
Even the spinal fluid of these mothers showed signs of Zika Virus. As for the CAT scans done on the babies, they showed signs of brain calcification and inflammation.
Other symptoms included: brain swelling, abnormalities in brain folds, premature brain tissues and disruptions in the myelin sheaths. The growth of these babies was stunted.
