However, it takes time for the movies to be shot, gathered, edited and put together. Before there could be a Star Wars VIII, you would have had to wait till 2017 to watch the next part. Luckily, Lucasfilm and Disney had a plan in motion that involved giving you all your Star Wars props and seeing a bit of history as well.
We are taking about the franchise aide movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Although it has not received as much hype as any original Star Wars episode but it is providing some insight in the Star Wars world before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
The movie features a team of Rebel spies who have been brought together for an important mission. They are sent to steal the plans for the Death Star which are very tightly in league with the scene when Princess Leia concealed the plans in R2-D2 before she's captured by the Galactic Empire in A New Hope.
We get a look at Mon Mothma and Felicity Jones and Jyn Erso who is Disney’s other attempt to promote female heroes along with Daisy Ridley’s Rey in The Force Awakens. According to the narration Jyn has been on her own since 15 and has been involved in forgery of Imperial documents, possession of stolen property, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. She is labelled reckless, aggressive, and undisciplined to which she replies that it is a rebellion and she rebels.
That is when all hell breaks loose in the teaser trailer and we are exposed to an array of characters, some familiar, some not so familiar. What did we notice?
We got our first glimpse at what appears to be the main antagonist of the film, played by Ben Mendelsohn in the world's most fabulous cloak. What might be Darth Vader seen kneeling down in front of some mysterious power core. White storm troopers, black storm troopers and the orange clad X wing fighter pilots.
So there are so many new faces and characters with a brand new cast including, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker and Donnie Yen. Alan Tudyk.
