The nuns who were the owners of the convent were trying to sell it through improper means to Dana Hollister. The judge said that the LA archbishop will be the final authority regarding to whom the convent will be sold. The nuns’ plea was rejected since they had not operated through proper channels.
The property which measures eight acres is out on the market for sale. Katy Perry will be there to offer the highest in pecuniary terms for the convent. She has had her heart set upon the purchase of this convent since a long time.
Now her wishes just might come true. Perry was willing to give $14.5 million for the convent, according to People. While the LA archbishop has given the go-ahead signal to Perry, the Vatican has yet to decide on the matter.
Were Perry to gain ownership of the former convent, a side chamber on the property meant for priests would have to be shifted elsewhere. Dana Hollister, Perry’s opposing force on the scene, had plans to convert the convent into a hotel.
She had even begun the renovation efforts. Yet her work was stopped midway by the concerned authorities and after much litigious rigmarole, all her dreams have been brought to a halt.
In 2013, the nuns met with Katy Perry and were unconvinced by her image that she deserved to be the owner of the former convent.
Perry tried to appear presentable before the nuns. She dressed in a normal manner instead of in one of her usual flamboyant outfits. She even sang a holy hymn in honor of the Lord and showed the nuns her Jesus tattoo.
Perry, in her own words, wanted to live on the eight acres with her mother and grandmother. She would sit peacefully in the garden and take sips from a cup of green tea.

She basically wanted to find out more about herself through living in peace and quiet on the property. One of the nuns however discovered about the flashy and frolicsome MTV videos that Katy Perry had made and she was not impressed by this other more original side of the pop singer. The nuns are unanimous in their decision that selling the convent to Perry would go against their faith.
