The man has done what no one else had ever done before. Franky Zapata smashed the Guinness record for the lengthiest hoverboard flight in history.
Franky Zapata is something of a genius. This gentleman is a French jet ski champion and holds the patent for the Flyboard Air to boot. He recently set the world record for the longest hoverboard flight. The record was set in the South of France.
Franky flew his Flyboard Air hoverboard for a distance of 2,252 meters. There is a world of difference between this new record and previous one. The erstwhile record was for 275.9 meters. It was set by a Canadian inventor named Catalin Alexandru Duru.
Zapata is 37 years old. His flights aboard the Flyboard Air went viral on the Internet some time ago. There were even those who had serious reservations about the veracity of the footage.
They could not believe their eyes when they saw Zapata flying and hovering in the air. Franky’s company, Zapata Racing, has created a number of gadgets that have water as the sole means of propulsion. There was an original Flyboard. The Flyboard Air though can fly hose-free for a time span of ten minutes.
The Flyboard Air can reach a maximum height of 10,000 feet. It can also speed by you at 93 mph. When Zapata set the world record there were over 200 people in the vicinity and they looked on with keen interest.
After the feat of courage and determination, Zapata looked mighty proud as he accpeted the award for the world record. He said that he had been working towards this goal of settin a world record since the past half a decade or so. Going all the way was just a start for him.
Zapata said smiling all the while that it had been a lifetime achievement. He had been a bit nervous before the flight but once the hoverboard was in the air, he felt a surge of confidence.
According to Zapata, the experience is simply out of this world. It’s not only amazing and amusing but also lends you a sense of serenity once you are there so many feet in the air.
He spoke of how he spread his arms and opened his hands during the flight. It was an indescribable feeling. It took Zapata four years to create the Flyboard Air out of scratch.
