Joe Manganiello is producing and acting in a movie about the Smiths which has been approved by Morrissey.

Joe Manganiello has seen fame in a brief time and now he is working on a project that he is very passionate about. He has been a fan of the British Indie band The Smiths and he has been working on producing a movie that will feature the Smiths heavily. He said that he loves to do movies that help him project and express his ideas and this movie will be one of those.

The movie will be titled ‘Shoplifters of the World’ and will be produced by him, his brother Nick and their friend, Laura Rister. The movie is based on an incident back in the 1987 when the Smiths announced that they were breaking up the band and a teenager bought a gun and went into the radio station in Denver, Colorado where he held the people at the station hostage.

He then locked himself in the studio and made the RJ who will be played by Joe himself play The Smiths track on repeat. According to the police records, the assailant gave up eventually and was arrested.

The script of the movie is written by written Stephen Kijak who will also direct the movie, according to ShowBiz411. Kijak is known for his music documentaries and has managed to secure music from the Smiths to be used in the movie.

Kijak having previous relationship to Morrissey managed to get the collection and the star’s blessing to move ahead with the project. Joe said that the collection of songs was not a cheap bargain but it came with Morrissey’s go-ahead blessing for the project which was more than enough for them to start the production.

Joe has previously starred in True Blood and Magic Mike and tied the knot with TV star Sofia Vergara recently.
