The movie posters for Dan Brown’s thriller Inferno features Tom Hanks reprising his role as Robert Langdon.
It’s been seven years since the last Ron Howard-Dan Brown collaborative project came out featuring Tom Hanks the iconic symbolist Robert Langdon. Featured for the first time in the 2006 movie The DaVinci Code based on the successful book of the same name by Dan Brown, the movie earned a stellar $758 million which was the testament of the book’s and the movie’s popularity.

It was enough for Tom Hanks and Ron Howard to work on the sequel book Angels and Demons which did not do as well at the box office as its predecessor, but still earned a fan following. The director and the actor did not confirm any further projects relating to the franchise given that Dan Brown published two Robert Langdon stories in between the seven years including The Lost Symbol and Inferno.
Both were successful and the fans had to wait to find out that skipping the Washington based The Lost Symbol, Ron Howard has skipped straight to Dante centric Florentine Inferno.
One of the main charms of the books and the movies have to be the exquisite locations around the world that Brown documents in detail and that might be the reason Howard has chosen Inferno as well. Based in Florence, Italy the two main characters of this book, Robert Langdon played by Tom Hanks and his ally Dr. Sienna Brooks played by Felicity Jones set to stop a global catastrophe that take them all the way to Turkey.
Following the elusive theme of the story, Ron Howard and Tom Hanks announced the project last year and while we are waiting anxiously for the movie, the production released two posters for the movie. Initially released for UK audience, the first poster features a kaleidoscopic shot of an arched corridor.
While our two main characters are running somewhere at the bottom of the poster which could be taken as the single right shot, mirrored parallel shot features an eerie single inverted figure at the top of the poster which we suspect is the elusive villain Bertrand Zobrist.
The other poster features Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon looking in the distance. Although Brown has always had Langdon wear a tweed coat, the movies went with a darker outfit for the symbolist and he is wearing a dark grey coat and looking thinner than he was in Angels and Demons. Looks like Hanks shed a few pounds.
