How did the snake survive - and could it happen again?

A Thai man is recovering after he had an encounter with a 10-foot python that seems like it could have been from a Goosebumps novel. The snake slithered throughout the plumbing of his home and latched his jaws onto the closest thing he could find when the man was squatting over the toilet - his penis.

Attaporn Boonmakchuay was all laughs when a Thai television station interviewed him while he was still in the hospital bed. Doctors said that he should be fine and he will recover. If you look at the scene of the crime, however, you can see blood splattered everywhere - so beware if you watch the video below.

The 38-year-old man told Thai TV Channel 7 that it took him almost 30 minutes to remove the snake, but he had to get help from both his wife and a neighbor. His wife was able to tie a rope around the snake while Attaporn pried open its jaws to remove himself from it. Seconds after removing it, he passed out.

Emergency workers had to dismantle the Asian-style squat toilet, which still had the body of the python twined in it throughout the plumbing. Miraculously, the snake is still alive and he will be released back into the wild, according to NBC New York.

There are no reports as to whether or not this is a common occurrence in the area or what might have led to the possibility that the snake could enter the home that way.

Doctors worked quickly to ensure that Attaporn would be able to recover after the ordeal, even if it will take some time.

"He has a really good attitude... even though his own wife and children were in shock. He's been smiling and giving interviews all day from his bed." hospital director Dr. Chutima Pincharoen said.
