A stunning look at the grow up Harry and Ginny Potter (nee Weasley) and their son Albus has been revealed by the production team behind the eighth story in the Harry Potter saga. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a story set 19 years after the closing chapters of the Deathly Hallows will debut in London next week. It begins shortly after the epilogue of the book.
Jamie Parker plays Harry, Poppy Miller plays Ginny, and Sam Clemmett will play Albus Severus. The first look was revealed on the Pottermore website with a tease that more of the characters will be unveiled over the next few days - hopefully Paul Thornley’s Ron and Noma Dumezweni’s Hermione.
The project is a bit mysterious at this point, but the first look at the characters also comes with interview quotes that help to shed light on the plot of the story. It will focus on the legacy of the Pottery family, but will show that father doesn't always stray that far from son.
Parker got JK Rowling's seal of approval as Harry: “He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.”
As for Ginny, who had transformed into a maternal figure, Rowling commented: “I think a lot of people would like to have Poppy’s Ginny for a mother. Kind and cool, exactly as I imagined her.”
And in regards to Albus, Rowling opted not to say too much at all.: “There’s much I could say about Sam-as-Albus, but we’d be into spoiler territory so quickly I’ll just say we couldn’t have cast better.”
At the start of the show, Albus is in hand-me-down Hogwarts robes from his brother James Sirius Potter, an idea that came from Clemmett himself.
