One of the most exciting film adaptations that will be released soon has absolutely nothing to do with a cape or costume. Instead, it is a creepy story based on Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. The movie is directed by Tim Burton and has a feeling of childlike fantasy while still being a great story for adults.

And here's an earlier trailer...
Eva Green (Penny Dreadful, Casino Royale) is the eponymous character who has been described as an "edgy" Mary Poppins. Miss Peregrine does have a pretty cool babysitting job - she has to take care of children who are abnormal or born with peculiar gifts. She has to protect them from mysterious monsters who want to kill them. But she's not completely normal herself - she has the ability to turn into a large black bird.
The best-selling book was inspired by trick photographs of children levitating that Riggs discovered. The film adaption shows how the Home plays with time in order to protect the children. That is, until Hugo (Asa Butterfield), who is 16, comes to protect them. While he is doing it to push away some of his family's demons, he finds so much more.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will be released on September 30, 2016.
