Aston Martin DB11’s New V12 Production Begins at Engine Plant
  • Production of V12 to Start at Aston Martin Engine Plant in Cologne, Germany

DB 11 will get a new 5.2L twin-turbo V12 engine. This new V12 engine enters full production at the Aston Martin Engine Plant (AMEP) in Cologne, Germany.

Aston Martin thrills its fans with new engine every other day. However this time Aston Martin is coming up with a new Model DB 11. The best thing about this model is that it will get a new engine for it as well. The engine will be assembled at Aston Martin Engine Plant in Cologne, Germany. The target was achieved today at the Plant with DB 11’s new 5.2L twin-turbo V12 engine.

This new engine will support a 608PS and 700Nm of torque. It will be the most powerful engine introduced in a DB model ever. It is the engine which has the fastest acceleration too. It will have a top speed of 200mph. It will make sure that you get from 0 to 62mph in mere 3.9 seconds. Now that’s pretty impressive!

The AMEP was opened in 2004 to facilitate the Aston Martin production. Its working area is situated in a perimeter of 12,500 sq. meter production hall. Here, more than 100 highly trained and efficient employees work really hard to manufacture the best Aston Martin we see on roads.

The AMEP has the ability to produce 8000 engines per year. It takes almost 8 hours to build a V12 engine. In the AMEP production area, each engine is given a quality check after it is finalized. The engine goes through a hot and cold testing unit. After that when the quality checkers are satisfied with the engine, it is released for shipment.

Brian Fitzsimons, Aston Martin Chief Engineer, Powertrain, says of the new engine entering production: “To see this new engine go into full production at AMEP makes me very proud. Designing and developing the 5.2L twin-turbo power plant has been an all-consuming passion for me and my team. Knowing that the end result would be built with meticulous care in a truly state-of-the-art facility such as AMEP was an added motivation. It’s a hugely exciting time to be an engineer at Aston Martin, not least because this is just the beginning for the new twin-turbo V12”.

Dr Andy Palmer, Aston Martin President and CEO, commented: “AMEP is one of our great success stories and one of the jewels in the Aston Martin crown. To have the ability to design and then manufacture our own high-performance engines in-house is something very special. It gives us ultimate control of quality and that all-important character for which Aston Martin cars are renowned. I have no doubts that our new twin-turbo V12 is the start of an even greater era of success”.

The asking price of this DB 11 with a V12 engine will be close to $211,995. Its production will start in fourth quarter of 2016.
