More than 30% of Prime Day Lightning Deals worldwide will be from sellers on Amazon.

The Amazon Prime Day 2016 countdown sale kicked off today with the first wave of deals. The week-long sale will offer new deals everyday until Prime Day 2016 on July 12. Today Amazon revealed more details about the Prime Day 2016 deals.

More than 30% of all Prime Day Lightning Deal will be offered by Amazon's 3rd party sellers. Prime Day deals from sellers and small businesses worldwide grew by more than 100% year-over-year.

Sellers and entrepreneurs will offer thousands of deals worldwide on unique items from electronics to toys, household goods, and apparel. In the U.S., the number of sellers taking part in Prime Day grew by more than 100 percent year-over-year and the number of deals from small businesses, brand owners, and entrepreneurs in the U.S. grew by more than 100 percent year-over-year.

Last Prime Day, Prime members purchased more than 14 million items from sellers and small businesses.

“Prime Day gives small businesses and entrepreneurs selling on Amazon from around the world a peak sales day during the summer months,” said Peter Faricy, Vice President for the Amazon Marketplace. “Prime Day is great for customers and sellers. Customers have the opportunity to support small businesses by purchasing unique products at a great price with fast, free shipping, and it helps sellers prepare for the upcoming holiday season by providing feedback and more customer reviews on their new and top selling products.”

Some of the Prime Day deals from popular and up-and-coming brands selling on Amazon:

Segway miniPRO – Smart Self Balancing Personal Transporter – save 20 percent

LunoWear Men’s Wood Watch – save 35 percent

LSTN Headphones and speakers – save up to 50 percent

Fayebeline Boutique Baby Clothing – save 20 percent

Amazon's marketing around Prime Day almost sounds now like Alibaba's 11.11 Singles Day sales event. Last year the Alibaba marketplace generated $14.3 billion in sales within 24 hours.

The Amazon Prime 2016 Day is set to beat the first Prime Day. The Prime Day 2015 sales surpassed the Black Friday sales in the previous year. With the build up of the countdown sale and the announced increase in deals, Prime Day 2016 could beat Black Friday again.
