Given how viral Pokemon Go is, smartwatches like Apple Watch and Android Wear based watches could benefit, if there would be an app.

The Pokemon Go Plus wearable device is not available for purchase anymore as the pre-order inventory is sold out. Pre-orders of the $35 Bluetooth notifier sell for over $200 on eBay. For Apple Watch and Android Wear owners there would be an alternative. Niantic Labs could release a Nintendo Go Apple Watch App and Android Wear app.

Niantic Labs offers an Android Wear app for its Ingress Augmented Reality game. See the Android Wear app for Ingress in action below.

UPDATE: Niantic announced Pokemon Go Apple Watch App at the Apple September 7 keynote. Pokemon Go for Apple Watch comes before the end of the year.

Because of the great interest in a Pokemon Go Apple Watch app, we have contacted Niantic and asked about if there are plans to release a Pokemon Go smartwatch app. Now that the first update for the iOS app with critical bug fixes, maybe the developer have now time to work on the Apple Watch app. We will update this post when we hear back from Niantic.

Pokemon Go trainers have showed demand on reddit and change.org. Niantic Labs has right now other problems than making an Pokemon Go smartwatch app. The Pokemon Go bracelet is not going to be that big for Nintendo, not to consider releasing a smartwatch app as well. The company can charge money for the Smartwatch app indicated by comments on reddit.

With Pokemon GO smartwatch app you would not have to look at your smartphone to spot nearby Pokemon or PokeStops. The Apple Watch would just vibrate whenever you're within range of a PokeStop, Gym or Pokemon appears.

Pokemon Go is already more popular than Tinder in the United States. The popularity of the augmented reality game led to the delay of the roll out of Pokemon Go to Europe.
