The numbers are finally in and Pokemon GO, which comes at no surprise, is the biggest mobile game in US history. Immediately shooting to the top of all charts within release, it has beat every other game that has been released in 2016 pretty handily.

Within just three days of release, Pokemon Go was able to get more users than Twitter and quickly earned millions of dollars for Niantic. The number is likely to grow as people get new phones and start to spend more money in order to grow Pokemon, get more incense, and buy Pokeballs.

There are 21 million daily active users in the US, which means that they have officially surpassed Candy Crush saga. At its current growth rate, it is likely that it will pass Snapchat on Android within a few days. It could also surpass Google Maps as the largest user of Alphabet's mapping data, according to Survey Monkey.

While it is too soon to predict that Pokemon Go will be an international success, it is definitely heading that way. Nintendo has only a minority stake in Pokemon Go, so they will only get a little bit of the profits. But for now, they have to walk on a thin wire because the public has a very finicky personality and hit games don't always stay hits. Nintendo knows that all too well thanks to their last early hit, Miitomo, which peaked and dropped very quickly.

Pokemon Go is already huge and it does look to be retaining a lot of people, especially now that the server issues seem to be solved. If it can retain most of the players, it will be hugely successful and you can expect to see many copycats.
