Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air Takes The Air Out of the MacBook

Chinese Xiaomi announced today a new ultra-thin laptop dubbed Mi Notebook Air.

The Notebook Air is Xiaomi's first laptop and it is a great looking and thin laptop. The company is also not shy adopting the "Air" from Apple's MacBook Air. Did their lawyers check on that?

The Mi Notebook Air comes in 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch screen sizes starting at $525. Measuring 12.9mm in thickness, making it thinner than the Apple MacBook Air at its thickest point (17mm). The Apple MacBook Air has though a tapered design going down to 3mm.

Features of the Mi Notebook Air 12.5-inch include full metal body, Intel Core M3 CPU, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, SSD slot, 1080p FHD Screen, dual speakers, Dolby surround digital sound and 11.5h battery life.

Features of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch include full metal body, NVIDA GeForce 940MX GPU, Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB PCIe SSD, SSD slot, 9.5h battery life. A 50% charge is achieved in 30 minutes.

The Mi Notebook Air launches in China next week. There is no word on whether the company plans to release their first notebook line globally.
