However the recent accident of Tesla Model S in which a man was killed in Florida while his car was driven on auto-pilot mode made the graph of popularity to go down. Many customers and authorities raised question on the safety associated with the Tesla models being driven on auto-pilot mode.
Thus to make use of the scandal, many other automakers jumped into action in order to prove that their cars are a better choice than Tesla. BMW has mocked the late delivery procedure of Tesla in its new advertisement campaign of 330e iPerformance plug-in hybrid car, set to air during the Rio Olympics 2016. According to CarandDriver, in the first ad, a man is shown sitting outside his home looking at the garage while waiting for its Model 3.
While his neighbors are shown enjoying a great time after buying a new 330e i. They are also shown making most of the 14 miles electric range offered in the car. The advertisement shows that it’s better to buy a 330i e instead of waiting for a Tesla 3 which nobody knows when will arrive.
In the second advertisement of the campaign a lady is being shown walking past the haunted kind of Tesla Super chargers in a parking lot. According to AutoNews, it is shown that they are not used by anyone from a long time. Later on she is presented going towards her new 330i e and driving it out of the parking lot.
