Elon Musk’s SpaceX has efficiently landed a Falcon 9 rocket for the sixth consecutive time. This is cause for celebration among the administration and staff of SpaceX.

One more Falcon 9 rocket has found its way back home and landed on a drone ship at sea. This is the sixth time such a successful landing has taken place.

This rocket launched a Japanese communication’s satellite into space. The landing was a big event. It was not exactly child’s play and was the result of a great deal of responsibility on the part of the administration and staff of SpaceX.

The satellite which took a piggyback ride atop the rocket was called JSAT-16. It went into geostationary transit orbit (GTO). This happens to be an elliptical orbit that will take the satellite 20,000 miles beyond the earth’s ambit.

To achieve this thing called GTO takes a lot of acceleration and extra rocket fuel. Take-off is the crux of the matter rather than reaching towards the lower earth orbit.

Furthermore, the landing part is very complex. The high velocity and extreme heating on re-arrival into the earth’s orbit make for a delicate situation that has to be handled with care.

There are even more issues that lie in the way of a successful landing. The fuel is often insufficient for re-igniting the engines for the necessary landing tactics.

However, in spite of these difficulties, SpaceX has landed three Falcon 9 rockets on earth in an able and stable way. They include in their number the Falcon 9 rocket which just landed recently.

Out of the 11 rocket launches made by SpaceX over the past two odd years, six have made it to the landing pads successfully. Yet, and here lies the rub, SpaceX has yet to reuse any of its rockets. This is very crucial for saving up on cash and materials. It could really prove to be an economical step.

CEO Elon Musk has big plans for SpaceX. He says that his company will soon use a rocket which has landed for sending a satellite into space.

Everyone is awaiting this step with eagerness. It will be nothing short of revolutionary and epic in its proportions. Space history will have been made, once reusable rockets begin their heyday.

According to The Verge, the plans are for September or October of this year to be the ideal time for this experiment in boldness and bravado. The Falcon 9 rocket which landed in April will most likely be the preferred candidate technology for this new venture in space exploration.
