Disneyland is going to have a special Halloween celebration from September 9 through October 31 to highlight all of the thrill rides. However, it will be particularly poignant this year because The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror will be permanently closed on January 2, 2017.

"During the celebration, the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination will get even darker," the park said on its website. "Each night, beginning after twilight, Disney California Adventure park guests will be treated to 'Late Check-Out.' Experience The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as you never have before ... in complete darkness."
There will be commemorative merchandise available for guests to purchase. There will also be themed food and beverage items that will be on sale throughout the celebration.
Disney previously announced that the scary hotel will be transformed into a Guardians of the Galaxy ride called Mission: BREAKOUT! Guests will be able to be right next to the characters in a ride that will be a "comically high-energy, rocking new adventure."
According to the press release from Disney, the new ride is set to open in summer 2017 and will anchor a broader universe of superheroes that will grow over time at California Adventure.
There is a last ditch effort to save the ride using an online petition.
