A new leak reveals the internal codenames and model numbers of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be released in Spring of 2017. A new leak suggests that Samsung believes the Galaxy S8 will be "dream." The Samsung Galaxy S8 is referred to internally as Dream with model number SM-G950 and Dream2 with model number SMG955. Dream2 is expected to be the Samsung Galaxy S8 edge.

SamMobile, who has usually a great track record when it comes to Samsung leaks, points out that the internal model numbers are unusual. Samsung increased the numbers not as usual by 10, but by 20. The Galaxy S7 model number is SM-G930. The explanation could be the fear of the number 4, common in East Asia.

Samsung should know that avoiding the number 4 is not protecting them against misfortune. Just look at the $1 Billion debacle the company is currently suffering through with the Galaxy Note 7 recall.

There is not much known yet what the Galaxy S8 will be like. It might not have a headphone jack, but Samsung should know by now that copying Apple is not always a good idea.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 release is expected to be again as early as possible in 2017 to maximize the time until the iPhone 7S / iPhone 8 will b released in Fall. The Galaxy S7 has been launched in February of 2016 and then rolled out around the world.

The leaked model numbers SM-G950 and SMG955 suggest that Samsung sticks with a flat Galaxy S8 and a dual edge Galaxy S8 variant. Samsung is behind Apple in terms of the camera. Samsung has not yet introduced a dual lens camera option. The Galaxy S8 is very likely coming with a dual lens camera. Will Samsung drop the headphone jack? Samsung likely will wait and see how iPhone customers react to the removal over the next weeks. if there is a building backlash, Samsung will likely keep the headphone jack on the Galaxy S8.

So far there are no solid Galaxy S8 leaks and everything you read around the web is speculation.
