The Pokemon Go Plus will be released on September 16. Here is How to buy the Pokemon Go Plus in the US.
Don't Miss: NES Classic Alternatives are Cheaper
The Pokemon Go Plus will officially go on sale on Friday, September 16. The Nintendo-made Bluetooth accessory for the hit game is already available in Australia and select Pokemon Go fans in select European countries can pre-order the Pokemon Go Plus. Some lucky Pokemon Go trainers already received their Pokemon Go Plus early. Even Canadian Pokemon Go fans can pre-order the Pokemon GO Plus on Amazon with September 16 delivery. The United States is different. Very different.
Update: GameStop offered Hold for Pick Up in Stores Reservations for Pokemon Go Plus Online. At 9:45am ET the reservation program has ended.
There is no Pokemon Go Plus pre-order option. The Pokemon Go Plus will just go on sale on Friday.
The supply of the Pokemon Go Plus will be extremely limited as expressed by GameStop. The available stock of Pokemon Go Plus is so limited that GameStop is only selling the Pokemon Go Plus wearable in GameStop stores and apparently not online. GameStop tweeted a couple hours ago that limited quantities in store 9/16.
Don't Miss: Hot New Toy Pokemon Balls for Tomy
GameStop has listed the $34.99 Pokemon Go Plus in their online store, but it is marked as unavailable. There is a chance that the GameStop online store will have some inventory. The best option to get your hands on the coveted Pokemon accessory is to be at your local GameStop store early.
The Nintendo Flagship store will also sell the Pokemon Go Plus starting Friday morning.
ToysRUs stores are another possibility to buy a Pokemon Go Plus on launch day. The toy retailer has removed the Pokemon Go Plus product page from the online store.
Update: I have just confirmed with ToysRUs sales support that the Pokemon Go Plus will not be in stock in ToysRUs stores today. Apparently GameStop managed to be the exclusive retailer for the Pokemon Go Plus for launch. The only other store that is confirmed to sell the Pokemon Go Plus today is the Nintendo flagship store in New York.
Those who have pre-ordered the Pokemon Go Plus before Pokemon Go was a thing, will get delivery of Pokemon Go Plus starting Friday. Many of these pre-ordered Pokemon Go Plus have been auctioned off on eBay when the AR Game started to gain viral popularity. One reason for the extremely limited stock of Pokemon Go Plus in the United States, is the initial pre-order phase in June. Seems that Nintendo has a hard time to fulfill all American pre-orders and to supply additional inventory for new buyers.
Because the Pokemon Go Plus is readily available in Canada, there is an influx of new Pokemon Go Plus listings on eBay. The Canadian Pokemon Go Plus offers as low as $64.59, which is much lower than Pokemon Go Plus pre-orders have gone for weeks ago. If you fail to score a Pokemon Go Plus on Friday, you can turn to eBay a pick up one for an additional $30, which is not too bad.
To sum it up here is the best strategy to buy a Pokemon Go Plus.

2:55am ET: GameStop just updated the product page of Pokemon Go Plus and lists it now as currently not available online. Most GameStop stores open at 10am local time.
12:10am ET: Pokemon Go Plus is not available online at any retailer including Amazon and GameStop. The Nintendo Flagship Store in New York confirmed on social media that the store will have stock of the Pokemon Go Plus. Next time to check for online availability of the Pokemon Go Plus is midnight Pacific. But as it looks, the best chance to get a Pokemon Go Plus on launch day is in a GameStop store or in the Nintendo Store in New York.
Pokemon Go Plus
Pokemon Go Plus works with the latest Pokemon Go app updates 0.37.0 (Android) and 1.7.0 (iOS). The Pokemon bracelet has been verified to work with the Pokemon Go app running in the background in locked mode. Egg and Buddy distances are recorded while the smartphone is in locked mode, saving valuable battery power.
Raiding PokeStop is extremely convenient with the Go Plus. After getting notified of the presence of a PokeStop, you just press the button and you collect all items. This works also great for lucky trainers that work or live next to a PokeStop. They can just every 5 minutes.
The Pokemon Go Plus wristband is also notifying you when there is a wild Pokemon. You can try to catch it by pushing the button to throw a ball. This is though less of a powerful feature. There is no guarantee that you catch the Pokemon. On top of that you do not know which Pokemon it is. You need to pull out your smartphone to check. If it is a rare Pokemon, you then can decide to use a more powerful ball.
The Pokemon Go Plus is compatible with iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, SE, 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices with iOS 8 or later installed.
The Pokemon Go accessory is compatible with Android devices that have 2GB RAM or more with Android Ver. 4.4–6.0 installed. Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth Ver. 4.0 or higher) is required to use Pokemon Go Plus on Android.
Read the first Pokemon Go Plus review with more details on how the Pokemon Go Plus works. The main advantages of using Pokemon Go Plus is the raiding of PokeStops with a push of a button. The second advantage is the tracking of egg and buddy distance while the phone is locked. That saves battery and you do no have to hold your phone. The catching of Pokemon feature is controversial. First users of Pokemon Go Plus report a rather disappointing low 30% capture rate. On top of that no XP and star dust is earned with the capture of a Pokemon using Pokemon Go Plus.
For experienced trainers at higher levels, using the Pokemon Go Plus for catching wild Pokemon does not make much sense.
