"The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device,” said Tsunekazu Ishihara at an interview according to the Wall Street Journal.
Pokemon is sneaking up on Mario as the most popular game characters. Pokemon Go is giving the Pokemon Company a huge boost. All Pokemon products are selling more than before because of Pokemon Go says Mr. Ishihara.
He said about Pokemon Go's success: "I feel like the reaction we saw was 10 times or even 100 times bigger than we expected," Mr. Ishihara said. He is more concrete than Niantic CEO about the player-to-player battles in Pokemon Go. He says that the feature is planned along with trading. They are pacing the roll out to make sure entry-level players are not overwhelmed.
The Pokemon Company is not only just licensing their characters. They take an active role in game design in Pokemon Go. They are the Pokemon experts with 20 years of experience. They exactly know how the game mechanics should be.
"Battling is a category that we do best at Pokémon, after all," Mr. Ishihara said, but "it’s important to really carefully consider any feature that may increase the difficulty and raise the barrier to entry for more casual users."
Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon will be released on Nintendo 3DS on November 18. The Pokemon game for Nintendo NX could be one of the launch titles in March of 2017.
