Niantic has announced a new feature coming to Pokemon Go.

Niantic announced a new feature coming to Pokemon Go, that I assume nobody has been waiting for.

Pokemon Go gives trainers a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokemon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokemon with a related type. For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokemon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases.

Trainers can work their way to a new tier by catching many Pokemon of the same type. If a Pokemon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.

Getting help capturing related type Pokemon is nice, but where is the in-app nearby Pokemon tracker? Niantic is currently causing major issues for 3rd party scanner and other apps. As reported yesterday, Niantic has enabled the reCaptcha security. Whenever Niantic's servers detect unusual behavior in an account they present it with Google's reCaptcha. You have sure seen this captcha in the past. It asks you to confirm that you are not a robot.

The reCaptcha security is currently only slowing down 3rd party apps. FastPokeMap and other scanners keep on working. The reCaptcha background analytics appears to be not that efficient.

Google also changed the SafetyNet check blocking again trainers from using Pokemon Go on rooted devices. Other apps are affected too.

Magisk is not working as a work around to run Pokemon Go anymore on rooted devices. The developer of Magisk is though working on an update and believes he can circumvent the new SafetyNet check.
