After so long, we have finally spotted a prototype of the new and upcoming Volvo XC60. This means that the company finally has given a chance to the SUV and is introducing a new model of it.
This new Volvo XC60 is going to be a part of the “60” next generation series model, according to MotorAuthority. The series is also going to offer replacements for S60 Sedan and V60 Wagon.
The cars introduced as a part of new series will all utilize the Volvo’s platform that is known as Scalable Product Architecture or SPA. The platform was first introduced in the latest XC90.
It has been used in V90 and S90 since its use in XC90. The platform is based on front wheel drive however all-wheel drive variant can be utilized through this platform too.
The platform can also support a hybrid setup. The hybrid setup will be able to use electric motors which will be used to power the rear wheels in the car. The conventional module is also available in the platform along with hybrid.
The car that was spotted was very heavily camouflaged. The overall look showed it to be smaller and more athletic than before. It has a new design for headlights and tail lights have been kept the same.
