2K Sports has finally announced the new cover athlete for its NBA 2K9 video game. 2K Sports chose Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics for the game. Garnett is an 11-time NBA all-star and 2008 Defensive Player of the Year.

Kevin Garnett was drafted out of high school in 1995 and is hailed as one of the most versatile and talented players in NBA history. NBA 2K9 will be available in the Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

"NBA 2K is where it's AT! End of story," said Garnett, who is currently playing in the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. "It's the game I play, the game my friends play, and the game anyone in the league serious about videogames plays. NBA 2K is the real deal, and until 2K Sports finds a way to plant an elbow in your chest, it's the closest thing to actually being there on the court. I can't tell you how pumped I am to be on the cover of NBA 2K9 - it's a real honor. Now watch out! Because this fall 2K Sports and I are going to deliver the best basketball video game out there, period."

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
